naive questions about deity

Dear People in this list!

I am quite new in using even Linux, but I missed a good
package manager from the beginning. Then I've heared about the deity project
and I just want to try the new manager if available.

I am only writing to you for an instruction where on earth can one find a
package to download and what even more important a piece of something like a
status report on the project.

I am also wondering what is the relationship between the apt package, the
dpkg-get package and the programs in the deity project.

One more thing: I composed (for myself at the first place) the features of a
package manager program that I would apprechiate most (items are not
necessarily in the order of growing importance). Here they are:
- console application (may run under X, but that isn't mandaroty)
- standalone program in the means of it does not require other packages to
run
- preferably knows about and handles a number of package formats (sort of a
built in alien feature: rpm, deb, etc.)
- keeps track of installed packages and is able to create the dependendency
tree of the installed packages any time up to a few level
- before install checks the dependencies and selectably offers installation
of needed and available packages
- before uninstall also performes a dependency check and selectably offers
removing those packages are not further required by any program
- it should have a user friendly interface (like for example midnight
commander has)

I wrote in this just to ask your opinion about them.. Do I expect too much
or....
I am not a programmer so (sigh) I cannot do such a thing by myself...
Thank you for your answer in advance and sorry for my bad english. Best
regards,
Jozsef Bor, Hungary
