Does this mean that potato will be released with the glibc2.0 version?
I assume that the glibc2.0 version of libstdc++ will eventually be
dropped, and we'll have to deal with the upgrade issues.

I am ignorant of exactly what the abortive upgrade issues are, so forgive
me if I say something non-sensical.

va is missing most of the -dev packages required for compilation, such
as libapt-pkg-dev and all the -dev packages for gnome.

I can't install the glibc2.0 version of libstdc++2.9-dev because of
this dependency chain:

libstdc++2.9-dev depends on libc-dev
libc-dev conflicts with libstdc++2.9-dev

D'oh!
