Getting apt into base
Here's some interesting results of compiling APT 0.3.0 with
-fno-exceptions:
Compiled without -fno-exceptions (default)
-rw-r--r-- 1 ben users 362986 Dec 15 15:15 apt_0.3.0_i386.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 ben users 27584 Dec 15 15:15 libapt-pkg-dev_0.3.0_i386.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 ben users 71358 Dec 15 15:15 libapt-pkg-doc_0.3.0_all.deb
Compiled *with* -fno-exceptions:
-rw-r--r-- 1 ben users 263898 Dec 15 18:02 apt_0.3.0_i386.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 ben users 27580 Dec 15 18:02 libapt-pkg-dev_0.3.0_i386.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 ben users 71370 Dec 15 18:01 libapt-pkg-doc_0.3.0_all.deb
100K difference in the apt .deb is mighty nice. :)
Would this affect performance? Should it be default?
