libc5 compile for deity (fwd)
Behan,
Here you go. Wichert was kind enough to compile a libc5 version. Sounds
like alot of work actually :<

Subject: libc5 compile for deity
This was a bitch to compile, but only since I am somewhat short
on diskspace. I cleaned up by removing a lot of stuff I did not
use, only to discover that deity did use some of it so I had to
go back and reinstall some of it.. sigh.
Here are a couple of things you need to compile deity that are
not mentioned in README.build:
* linuxpthreads. (is this in glibc2? if so you only need if for libc5)
* debiandoc-sgml. (this requirers sp and sgmlspm)
* sgml-data. There is no dependency in sgml-data in sp or sgmlspm, only
a suggest but we really need it.
I had to recompile some stuff for bo after getting the sources from hamm:
* gettext 0.10.32
* libtool 1.0c
* automake 1.2
After that I had to modify the debhelper scripts since the install program
from bo does not understand the '-p' option.
And I had to install debhelper after being puzzled for a while what the
dh_* commands in SC's debian/rules where doing.
Finally there was a slight error in the Makefile's: when doing make install
it stopped with an error when it installed build/include/deity. It tried
to find */*.icc, but there were no icc files in there. I made a null-byte
file ERROR.icc (which probably is still in the .deb) and it worked fine.
I've put the .deb file at http://silver.wi.leidenuniv.nl/~wichert/deity.deb
for anyone who is interested. Spread the word!
Wichert.
