Hi Peter,

as you surely noticed, I added (only) mate-polkit as an xfce4 Recommends. This
change is targeted as a short one for Trixie but I'd be happy to revisit that
for Forky early in the release cycle.

I would of course prefer xfce-polkit | mate-polkit
or vice/versa which gives users an easy alternative
in the unlikely case of trouble.

If you're motivated about this, I think it would be interesting to:
- check with xfce-polkit upstream about the maintenance status, and maybe
offer them your help if needed.

Right now the official release is a bit behind master.
This does not really concern me too much as,
I'm tracking master via the watch file,
and picked up the pull request as a patch.

Sure, I could offer to help there, but the most likely response
(if any) would be to make my own fork. Anyway, neither option
would address your concern below.

- make sure xfce-polkit is acknowledged by and under the Xfce project umbrella

I raised it with them on the mailing list, but to be fair,
they don't have mate-polkit under their umbrella either!

If that happens, then I think it would make sense for you to join the Xfce
maintainers team and to move the xfce-polkit Debian package under the Xfce
maintainers team umbrella as well.

What do you think?

Regards,

Perhaps I can join the team anyway and help with other packages that I use? Assuming of course that a "too many cooks" situation can be avoided! Let me know after the release perhaps.

Regards.
Peter
