Hi Enrico,
I don't have a neomutt choice in the preferred applications settings, so I'm
unsure how you managed to do that. As far as I can tell, there's an helper for
mutt (/usr/share/xfce4/helpers/mutt.desktop) and muttng
(/usr/share/xfce4/helpers/muttng.desktop) but not for neomutt.
Did you only select a neomutt choice, or did you create it yourself?

The mutt and muttng helpers call:
exo-open --launch TerminalEmulator /usr/share/xfce4/exo/exo-compose-mail mutt
