Bug#920864: mouse invisible lightdm intel graphics

Package: lightdm
Version: 1.18.3-1

At first login after boot the mouse pointer will disappear. It still works but is invisible. Logout and login again will bring the mouse pointer back. This behavior is new after I updated stretch today - presumably to stretch 9.7
With some web reasearch I found this to be an old well known problem with lightdm and intel graphic chips. I can provide three web links which seem helpful:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1568604
https://antergos.com/wiki/de/hardware/graphics/invisible-mouse-cursor/
https://forum.antergos.com/topic/4375/invisible-mouse-cursor-after-sleep-lock

I am using Debian GNU/Linux 9.7 with Kernel 4.9.0-8-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.130-2 (2018-10-27) x86_64 GNU/Linux and XFCE 4.12.3 desktop environment and lightdm 1.18.3-1 , light-locker 1.7.0-3
The graphics chip identifies as Intel Corporation Atom Processor D4xx/D5xx/N4xx/N5xx Integrated Graphics Controller with Kernel Modul i915
