see all the dependencies from package vlc in Debian Sid.

Vlc needs Qt dependencies by default.

What is the problem with parole to add the task-xfce-desktop respectively
tasksel meta packages?

Why you wan't change the packages? I can't understand it.

Parole is the default media player from xfce project and not so bloated
as the vlc player.
