[Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#692900: xfce4: No third level/meta keys available
Package: xfce4
Version: 4.8.0.3
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
after upgrading to debian testing and searching for a thin X client with a
nice GUI I had the problem, that meta keys in xfce4 were not available, neither in a terminal
session nor in any other X program like gedit, OO writer. I recognized that they
were available in GNOME3. Especially missed keys are @, ?, | on the console
session. So it must be a problem in xfce4, not in X.
After some googleing no matching solutions could be found. But I got the
hint, to make a ~.Xmodmap file in my home dir.
So as I want to have the correct keybindings from gnome3 I did it in
gnome-terminal with a xmodmap -pke > .Xmodmap command.
This was sucessful. I am now able to wirte this characters even in terminal
session and X programs.
My real keyboard is a Logitech wireless desktop K520 with USB receiver and
mouse, in gnome even the extra functional keys are working correctly.
