Well, running startx (configured to start LXDE session) without any desktop managers
results in the same environment as when LightDM is used.

Thus, I'm reassigning this to gdm3.

One more detail (it's the same in both cases, LightDM and GDM3):

$ xdpyinfo | grep dot
  resolution:    86x84 dots per inch
