When you run gdb it tries to load symbols from the executables. There you can
see. Btw, symbols are stripped from executables by default in Debian, so you
wont have it. This is the case for xfce4-panel. (in unstable there's now a
xfce4-panel-dbg package wich contains symbols for xfce4-panel).

It seems there is no backtrace in case of an X error. I'll try to reproduce,
but I need to setup a stable box with xinerama.

Wich drivers are you using, btw?
