Bug#360304: [Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#360304: xfce4: store settings in .xfce instead of .config

so both kde and gnome choose to violate the freedesktop standard that
they themselves defined? is this something new that they have yet to
adopt?

the latest revision of the XDG specification appears to be from 2004.
maybe it is a standard that did not catch on, and should be discarded?
or perhaps someone needs to tell the kde and gnome guys to get their
act together and follow the spec?

if XDG is how things should be, i'm cool with that, but i think that
this specification needlessly flies in the face of 30 years of UNIX
config file naming conventions.

what are your thoughts and motivation?

mike
