Bug#1008992: xwayland: all X clients hang indefinitely waiting for /tmp/.X11-unix/X0

Package: xwayland
Version: 2:22.1.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
X-Debbugs-Cc: hlieberman@debian.org

After upgrade to 2:22.1.1-1, all X applications refuse to start. strace shows that they hang on connect(2), waiting for the /tmp/.X11-unix/X0 socket.

XWayland on my system is being started by Gnome/mutter, with the following command line showing in ps:

/usr/bin/Xwayland :0 -rootless -noreset -accessx -core -auth /run/user/1000/.mutter-Xwaylandauth.A4B0J1 -listen 4 -listen 5 -displayfd 6 -initfd 7

A full strace of an xeyes session (up through ^C) is attached.
