The issue is still present in sid with
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.9.0-1+b1

However, I just found that using the libinput driver makes the touchpadwork perfectly.

All I did was:

# mkdir /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d

# cp /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-libinput.conf


and restarted X.
