I agree. I am constantly flipping back and forth between mesa-utils and mesa-utils:i386. I run a combination of games that are i386 and AMD64. Sometimes when I upgrade for one reason or another, I lose GL acceleration on either i386 or AMD64 due to a package conflict or some random package problem in testing, or for some reason aptitude or apt-get choosing a strange upgrade path that leaves me without hardware acceleration on one or the other. I need both a 64 bit and a 32 bit Mesa-utils so I can verify hardware acceleration on both GL libraries. Currently, mesa-utils conflicts with itself on a different architecture which doesn't make much sense to me.
