Hi,
I also see this problem with a Sky Lake connected via HDMI. I am using also XFCE but I have seen the same behavior under Cinnamon, which I shortly tried. The Xorg.0.log that I attach shows an error after switching back from a VT: [53676,836] (EE) intel(0): sna_mode_shutdown_crtc: invalid state found on pipe 0, disabling CRTC:21
