Then something else must be going on because I used this option.

I was just curious, how switching TTYs works without root
privileges in the "normal" new setup without the compatibility
wrapper where the X then also has no root privileges, and thus
should be unable to switch TTYs.

Lets say the TTY switch fails due to missing permissions. Is it
expected that the TTY freezes as I experienced it and that I
can't enter anything afterwards or should the switch fail but
input continue to work?
