Minor correction: I used the Cirrus driver on Wheezy machines. For Jessie machines I have it set to the VGA driver (because Cirrus has issues on Jessie guests as well). I had no luck trying to backport the xserver-xorg-video-qxl package from Sid locally on my own (green screen) and limited ability to look further.
