Bug#772437: xwayland is very slow launching and drawing windows; my custom build was ok

Dear Maintainer,

i launched weston from a tty and then opened a terminal, typed "xman",
then hit enter.

the cursor froze and i could see shadow regions and a window border
slowly being drawn over the next several seconds. eventually, the window
appeared and regions were selectively redrawn.

i expected the xman program to quickly launch without freezing the
cursor. this behavior exists in the versions of wayland + weston +
xwayland that i compiled as suggested on the wayland website. i used the
same versions as those in debian jessie.

i built xwayland like this:

$ ./autogen.sh --prefix=$WLD --disable-docs --disable-devel-docs \
  --enable-xwayland --disable-xorg --disable-xvfb --disable-xnest \
  --disable-xquartz --disable-xwin

i tried messing with debian/rules in xorg-server by disabling only xvfb
and xnest. however that did not appear to solve the problem. i noticed
that there are many other options set in the ../configure line that
aren't mentioned on the suggested instructions to build xwayland:

http://wayland.freedesktop.org/xserver.html

perhaps one of them conflicts with xwayland functionality.


this bug may be related to:

but xwayland is much slower in this case.
