A month ago the X server was upgraded from 1.15 to 1.16, that would seem
the most obvious candidate.  The nouveau driver has not seen any source
uploads for nine months.

It might be a good idea to ask for help on the #nouveau IRC channel on
freenode.  I don't have an Optimus laptop, so I can't help.
