Package: xdm
Version: 1:1.1.8-5
Severity: normal
If you use xdm as your display manager the xscreensaver daemon can only be started during the first session.
To reproduce:
1) Boot machine to xdm greeter.
2) Log in via xdm - during this session the xscreensaver daemon can be started and stopped ok
3) Log out, returning to xdm greeter screen
4) Log in via xdm - during this (and subsequent sessions) the xsceensaver daemon cannot
be started.
If attempting to starting via xscreensaver-demo the error message is:
"
Error:
The xscreensaver daemon did not start up properly.
Please check your $PATH and permissions.
"
This problem does not occur if using gdm instead of xdm.
