I tried with kernel 3.16 from siduction derivative and yes it
worked. xserver was the same version in jessie and sid so no need to update anything there. Therefore this is not a bug, it works in kernel that is supposed to ship with Debian 8. However, Mullins does not work with Debian 7, and there is no ETA for it to become stable in experimental, unstable or testing. I would like to close this bug report, while asking kernel devs to speed up delivery of kernel in testing. Thank you, --
