It depends on the data.
The likely quick-fix would be to use a soft- or full-reset on the terminal
(control-middle-mouse menu).
If it's a continuing nuisance for Vincent, there's the feature I added ten years ago:
-k8 This option sets the allowC1Printable resource. When allowC1Printable is set, xterm overrides
the mapping of C1 control characters (code 128-159) to treat them as printable.
(either way, once he identified the problem, it seemed that the bug could have been closed)
