Bug#732313: xserver-xorg-input-evdev: X segfaults with backtrace from evdev when playing game

Package: xserver-xorg-input-evdev
Version: 1:2.8.2-1
Severity: normal

Hi.

A couple of times in the past week or so I've had X segfault on me. I
believe it's related to evdev because before the segfault a couple
of lines mentioning evdev appears in the X log file, and the backtrace
also mentions evdev. But I'm not certain that evdev is at fault.

I can reproduce the problem, but not reliably. The segfault has only
happened while I have been playing a specific closed-source game (europa
universalis 4). And no specific action I do is triggering it, it happens
randomly, sometimes taking up to 2-3 hours of playing before suddenly being
triggered. When I'm not playing the game I've been able to run X for
several days without problems.

Its noteworthy that its X display :0 that segfaults, but I'm not running
the game on display :0 but rather on display :8. The game and display :8
keep running fine after :0 segfaults. So that makes it unlikely that its
a bug in the game that is triggering the problem. X display :8 is run
using a minimal xorg config and has AutoAddDevices off, so that could be
why the bug isn't triggered on that display.

Since nothing specific seems to trigger the bug, my theory is that it's
because the game is stressing the system heavily and using a lot of
resources, causing the hardware to behave in some unexpected way that
evdev isn't handling properly. I have not run any other software that
might cause high stress on the system, so that could be why the bug has
only been triggered while playing this specific game.

The auto-generated information below contains a Xorg.0.log file, but
not the one where the segfault happened, since I've restarted X since
then. So I will paste here the Xorg.0.log file that has the error
message and the backtrace.

Thanks for your time.
