Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati
Version: 1:6.6.3-2
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***
On a PowerMacintosh 9600/300 with the standard ATI Mach64 PCI video card,
the X server will not start, giving the following errors:

- with the auto-generated Xorg.conf (DefaultDepht set to 24)
   Driver can't support depht 24

- with DefaultDepth set to 15 or 16:
Depth [15|16] is not supported through this adapter

- with DefaultDepht set to 8 or commented out altogether:
   Linear aperture not available

See also attached log files.

A Sony 17" CRT monitor is connected to the video card by means of a
Mac-VGA adapter. The adapter is set to a fixed resolution of
1152x870, but changing settings on the adapter does not have any effect.
Also, providing a custom ModeLine in Xorg.conf with values obtained
with fbset -x on the console does not have any effect.

Hi! I'm closing this bug, since it was tagged "moreinfo" for years
without answer. If you still encounter this problem, please feel free
to re-open it.

Also, I guess the bug reporter does not use this hardware anymore.
