found 698324 2:2.19.0-6 notfound 698324 2:2.19.0-6 thx i downgraded to xserver-xorg-video-intel:amd64 2:2.19.0-6, and i haven't run into that condition for almost four days. with 2.20, the issues occurred roughly every 24-48 hours for four times in succession, so i'm confident enough to state this here as a working assumption.
