My simple solution for now is to disable dri. Bug seems slightly similar to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26999, but is not the same as far as I can tell.

Relevant package versions:

Package kdm: i A 4:4.4.5-5
Package libgl1-mesa-dri: i A 7.7.1-4
Package libgl1-mesa-glx: i A 7.7.1-4
Package xserver-xorg-core: i A 2:1.7.7-10
Package xserver-xorg-video-openchrome: i A 1:0.2.904+svn842-2

Attached dmesg, lspci -vv output and Xorg.0.log of a normal session.

Yell if I can supply any more information,

Package: mesa
Version: 8.0-1

The Unichrome 3D driver has been removed in Mesa 8.0 and is no longer
shipped in Debian, I'm closing the bugs related to it.

Sorry for not bringing better news.

Cheers,
       Sven
