The comment about rendering is obscure (running in tek4014 mode, the
display won't behave anything like vt100 - I don't see anything amiss
here).

The same fix was made upstream in work for #280 (current is #281).

fwiw, I've started on #282 changes,
but don't recall any regressions in #281.
