That's what I have built (as was suggested by nouveau's developer). He
also told me that everybody must move to Mesa 8.1, and never stuck
with 8.0.%.

Well, if having no text and no icons is okay, then don't move, 8.0.%
forever (it is... stable!!!).
Can you just build it correctly, at least?..
