As you can guess, the Makefile is kind of silent about it… If you're interested in getting that fixed, please open a bug upstream about it: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/ (product Mesa) and let us know about the bug number/URL, so that we can track it as forwarded there. (You may want to have a quick look at master to see whether that's fixed; even if it is, backporting it to 7.10 would make sense to me, so an extra bug could serve as a reminder to cherry-pick it anyway.)
