xorg-server 1.10 was in testing when the backports were published,
there's now 1.11 in testing. Using the X stack from squeeze-backports
would get you a “mixed” environment, but with some degrees of control:
you can pull the X stack only.

Switching to testing would give you a more “recent” stack, but you could
drag a lot of breaka^Wfun with other packages and upgrade paths which
might not be well tested yet. ;-)
