I get behaviour that meets the same description above.

In the attached ‘Screenshot.png’, the title bar of a window has
garbage from the right-side button images.

In ‘Screenshot-1.png’, the same image is being viewed in GNOME's image
viewer; the display is further distorted by more garbage.

In ‘Screenshot-2.png’, text in a terminal window is corrupted.

Redrawing the window will usually clear the garbage, but the redraw
itself often introduces new, different garbage.
