Works for me, without any explicit options.

I get this:

DPMS (Energy Star):
  Standby: 600    Suspend: 600    Off: 600
  DPMS is Enabled
  Monitor is On

Not that I also have this in my Xorg.0.log:

[    15.919] (II) NOUVEAU(0): DPMS capabilities: Off; RGB/Color Display

as opposed to your
