Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel Version: 2:2.13.0-1 Severity: normal Tags: experimental, upstream (Most likely, this is an upstream issue. Therefore I added the upstream tag) Since either the upgrade to 2.6.36rcX (I did not get around to testing 2.6.35 again, sorry) or xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.13.0-1, libdrm-intel1 2.4.22-1 my screen frequently loses its setup. This could also be an issue with Gnome from experimental. Sorry for so far being unable to pin it down completely. Let me describe my setup first - laptop with barely-working display (LVDS1, backlight dying) - external monitor (VGA, twice the size) In fact I bought the monitor just because repairing the backlight cost more than the old laptop probably is worth. And since it does't really work, I use the setup that can be described as xrandr --output VGA1 --auto --output LVDS1 --off This worked fine for quite some time: after GDM auto-logon, Gnome would restore my video settings to this setup and I could immediately start working. However, since the day I upgraded aforementioned packages, the screen loses this setup, and falls back to a dual-head setup, with sometimes LVDS1 being the left screen, sometimes VGA1. This seems to happen on - resume from hibernation - wakeup from a screen-only powersave mode (not sure if this is still happening as of 2.6.36-rc6, it definitely was for -rc5; but I've also extended my screensaver settings) So I have the impression that somewhere there was added a call to auto-configure the connected monitors, which resets the settings I did before. I do not think Gnome is to blame, because I had the impression the Gnome screen configuration tool is also confused about the active screen setup (probably because it disagrees with the remembered settings). With my next reboot, I'll try 2.6.32 again, to isolate the kernel changes. The first intel driver affected could also have been 2.12.0+shadow-2, I'm not sure whether I first had this issue around September 29th or October 3rd. -- Package-specific info: /var/lib/x11/X.roster does not exist. /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum does not exist.
