I see exactly what you mean, since I'm experiencing it from time to
time, on different characters. Can you reproduce this bug reliably? (I
can't.)

I'm attaching a patch suggested by upstream, which I didn't try myself
(because of the lack of reproducibility on my side). It would be nice
if you could give it a try.
