Bug#614124: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Detected a hung GPU, disabling acceleration

Another points -
1. What are the disavantages of using a generic driver instead of this one?
2. Is this problem related to using Debian, or is it for any Linux distro I will use?
3. Maybe the installer program should be aware of the i8xx compatibility problem, and not install this driver on the first place?

Thanks again ...

Hi.

Thanks for the prompt help.

How can I know for sure that I have i8xx card?

If I do have an i8xx card - I understood from the FAQ you linked that I should change my video driver to vesa or fbdev.
Which is prefered?
How can I make this change?

Thanks,
Zvika

sure: http://pkg-xorg.alioth.debian.org/faq/general.html

Given it's an i8xx card, there's not much we can do. :(
