Without any xorg.conf I get a much better situation, esp the
(II) UnloadModule: "synaptics"
is gone!!

It seems that the "invalid blabla ranges" seem to be the problem, but
I guess you know better.
Anything else I can do?
(I still consider it a bug. AFAIS the values I have in my config file
are fine and within the ranges, and they worked for ages)
