Package: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
Severity: normal

The 'garbage' I am referring to is letters and colours in random
placement each time I reboot, so I lost my ability to switch to VT's
in case something goes wrong with my X. Card is a NVidia GeForce (02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G86 [GeForce 8500 GT] (rev a1)
(prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) ) - as reported by lspci.
