Package: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau Severity: normal The 'garbage' I am referring to is letters and colours in random placement each time I reboot, so I lost my ability to switch to VT's in case something goes wrong with my X. Card is a NVidia GeForce (02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G86 [GeForce 8500 GT] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) ) - as reported by lspci. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.34-rc4-00054-g2ba3abd (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash
