Package: xserver-xfree86 Version: 4.0.1-4 Severity: normal In the documentation file README.mouse.gz, a "usb" protocol is talked of, however when I tried to use it the X server complained that "usb" is an unknown protocol. Interestingly though, the mouse driver seems to work (to some extent) when I do the following for my Intellimouse Explorer * set the protocol to Explorer/PS2 * set the device to /dev/input/mice Thanks, -- System Information Debian Release: woody Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux orion 2.2.18pre21 #1 Thu Nov 23 01:14:16 EET 2000 i686 Versions of packages xserver-xfree86 depends on: ii libc6 2.2-1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii xserver-common 4.0.1-4 files and utilities common to all ii zlib1g 1:1.1.3-11 compression library - runtime

For the record, that seems to still apply somehow. That file was updated by Alan Coopersmith recently though, and that looks better. Given that people should be using evdev (at least on Linux), and read manpages (man 4 mouse for that one) if they need to configure stuff, I'm closing this bugreport. KiBi.Attachment: signature.asc
