It's powerpc, so it needs a fb driver somehow.  However from dmesg, it
seems to be using nvidiafb, which probably doesn't handle console
handoff.

Daniel, can you try booting with video=ofonly?  AFAIK, that should use
the offb framebuffer driver on boot, which should be able to hand off to
nouveau.
