X locks up after a short time period (five or ten minutes) when doing
things that place some demand on the X server (in other words, not
typing in an xterm, but the smooth-pop-up notification windows from
Iceweasel or playing solitaire and moving cards around).  The behavior
of the freeze is slightly different depending on the kernel: with
a 2.6.30 kernel, the mouse pointer is fully responsive, but no clicks
register.  With 2.6.32, the mouse pointer is *extremely* sluggish, but
still sort of responds.

In both cases, the keyboard is dead, Ctrl-Alt-F1 does not work,
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace doesn't work even when enabled, and Ctrl-Alt-Del
does not work.  The system has to be hard-reset to recover.  There is
nothing in syslog following the hard reset.

I unfortunately didn't have the old debs that I'd previously had
installed, so I had to revert all the way back to testing.  But reverting
to the version in testing causes the problem to disappear.

The system uses the radeonhd driver.

The below information is generated with the xserver-xorg-core from
testing installed, since the system doesn't stay usable for long enough
otherwise to file a bug report.
