I tried with xfonts-100dpi/1:1.0.1 and fvwm/1:2.5.30.ds-1 from
unstable and could not reproduce the bug. However I'm not using fvwm
very often, I managed to change the menu font without side effects but
I'm not sure it's exactly the case you reported.
Can you check if the bug still occur for you?
