I tried to use the touchpad on my laptop to move the cursor from one
place on the screen to another, by sliding my finger-tip over the
surface of the touchpad.
The computer behaved as though I had clicked the mouse (or touchpad)
button which I had not.

The above fault happens often but not always.
When my finger-tip is dry, the error occurs.
I can sometimes work-around the fault by wetting my finger tip.

I do not require the effect of clicking on the button, except when I
press it.
How can I disable the feature which pretends that I have clicked on
the mouse (or touchpad) button, when I have not done so?

( My computer (in GUI mode) sometimes behaves as though I failed to
release a key.)
( Rarely (not in GUI mode), the arrow and home keys fail to work till
re-boot, but most keys do work.)
My Computer, Mitac 6020, does not run acpi.
I attach a copy of output from dmesg when running kernel version
2.6.26-2-686 .

The command synclient -l
produces the response:"
Can't access shared memory area. SHMConfig disabled?"
on stderr.
the same command give as root produces the same response.
I tried adding :"
	SHMConfig	on"
immediately after:'
Section	"InputDevice"' in /etc/X11/xorg.conf' .
The result was that xorg did not start when the computer rebooted,
kdm started (according to ps) but I could not see the display on
tty7.
---------
I attach a copy of the /etc/X11/xorg.conf which I have.

I am using:
xorg 1:7.3+18
kdm 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6+lenny1
kwin 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6+lenny1
kmail 4:3.5.9-5

kernel my own special 2.6.26-21+cs1 ,
but the fault also occurs
with kernel 2.6.26-2-686

libc6 2.7-18lenny4

The hardware is:
laptop: Mitac 6020 with touchpad.

The output of lspci is:"

I hope that this is clear,
