Bug#586448: New Kernel with KMS and Nouveau Defaults, External DVI Fails
So sorry for muddled attempt to use reportbug.
Notebook computer with external LCD connected via port replicator (both
D-Sub and DVI connectors). Since latest linux-image, xserver-common and
xserver-xorg-core upgrades in Squeeze the external LCD does not work
with the DVI but does work with the VGA connector.
Before the switch to kernel mode setting and nouveau, both types of
connection for the external monitor worked. Built-in monitor is unaffected.
No proprietary drivers of any kind have been installed on this system
since a clean netinst of Squeeze a few months ago.
