Hello Brice,

I've actually read my mind! I was planning to update the bug this week end but
you've been faster than me.

I read your blog post about the new radeon driver and installed it from
experimental.
I installed 1:6.12.191-1 and, following your suggestions I loaded the radeon driver
early in the boot process (putting radeon in /etc/modules) and I had to use
modeset=1 and agpmode=-1 to make it work.

To do so, I created the file xserver-xorg-video-radeon.conf in /etc/modprobe.d with
the following content:

options radeon modeset=1
options radeon agpmode=-1

In my /etc/X11/xorg.conf I have:

Section "Device"
        Identifier "ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700/64MB"
        Driver "radeon"
EndSection

(I am writing this for people who might read the bug report)

I have not experimented too much with the options because I am really busy right
now.

Anyway, the new driver seems to work pretty well with KDE 4.3.4-3 and compositing
enabled.

I look forward to seeing the driver in testing!

Thank you all for the hard work you do to maintain this package!

Cheers,
