hi

I installed compiz; I cannot find a reasonable way to use it.

Here are some tests

1) I logged in, using GDM, choosing the "failsafe Gnome"; opened a
terminal, and ran
$ script -c 'compiz --replace'
then it seems that 'metacity' is killed, and compiz should take its
place; but window decorations are never drawn, and the desktop is
unusable; so I hit ctrl-C , and then compiz dies by segfault, and
metacity is started again

the typescript is attached

2) same as above, using a freshly created user, and the usual "Gnome"
session, same result

3) I logged in, using GDM, choosing "failsafe terminal" session; in the
terminal, I ran 'compiz' and then it works fine; then I started the
gnome-session, and it all was working fine. But I found no way to tell
gnome to always use compiz: when I loogged out and logged back in,
metacity was used.
