Re: xorg-server fix for Gamma crashes when screensaver starts

Hi everyone,

I gave it a try, related to #567318.
(To make sure: 'try' is apt-get source xorg-xserver; patch ...; debuild binary; dpkg -i xserver-common_1.7.5-1_all.deb xserver-xorg-core_1.7.5-1_amd64.deb xserver-xorg-core-dbg_1.7.5-1_amd64.deb ; did I miss some package? and this means that I apply the git patch before the debian-specifics are applied, I hope they commute properly).

This fix indeed avoids the segfault, as hoped.

Two remarks though.

This leaves the other end of the issue opened, namely the fact that the data structure was left inconsistent by the xrandr: this means that there is no fading out in cases where it was segfaulting, and it fades out when it was, it seems. I added some extra tests to #567318.

It fades out in a strange way, or at least really different than before: for instance the blue colors become flashy instead of fading out (??) (namely color #c3d9ff goes to something like #0000cc, visualisation impression). It's too short to give a detailed account of the impression.

Cheers,
Sam
