Bug#571741: same happens on linux-image-2.6.33-2-amd64 2.6.33-1~experimental.1
I have just tried that new kernel and the behaviour was the same.
I could not log into the machine, not on ssh or the console. Let me explain
what I was seing... the screen was locked with xscreensaver and it didn't
recognice my password, so I switched to a VT and tried to log on there, but
the getty could not launch the login, so as soon as I tried to enter my
username I got to the username prompt again and after a couple of times I
get a "respawning too fast" message and I cannot do anything, pressing the
power button wich should halt the machine also doesn't seem to work.
This is one of the typical scenarios I found, with 2.6.32 others I had found
with 32 were even worst and computer was even less responsive, but on any of
them I cannot log in or do a dmesg or similar.
I'll also try to test the 2.6.32 recommended version and post the results
around.
