No, all they are telling you to do is go back to an older version and merge a couple of changes needed to let it build with a recent X.org. When it is fixed I'll update the package.
I see... so let's hope it won't take to long for the openchrome gurus to resolve this issue.
For the time being, I can only recommend to all other people whose HTPC is affected by this bug to fall back on Luc's unichrome driver. Compiling it using dpkg-buildpackage really worked like a charme, and the flickering is gone! (Thanks, Luc!)
