Package: xlibs-data
Version: 6.8.2.dfsg.1-0pre1v1
Severity: normal

If /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icons/default/index.theme-dpkg.tmp is missing, the package
xlibs-data is not installable or removable because the postinst script
complains that it is unable to update /etc/alternatives/x-cursor-theme
and fails with error 2. This is a potential problem if someone has a
missing /usr/X11R6 dir and wants to reinstall X.

Sounds like an issue with the old monolithic packages, so closing now.
Sorry for not getting to this earlier…
